RSN initiates comparative study on protection framework in S & SE Asia

July 31, 2018

In collaboration with the Open Society Foundation Justice Initiative, RSN has undertaken a research study examining the legal and policy frameworks in the major Rohingya refugee hosting countries (Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh). The study was informed by consultation sessions held with Bangladeshi civil society in which participants expressed an interest in understanding how other countries in the region, and other countries not signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention, have received and regulated refugees. The research study will involve collaboration with civil society partners in the region (including APRRN) and will allow for RSN to channel experience supporting efforts in Turkey, the world’s largest refugee host country, for the purposes of improving refugee rights in Asia.
