The Global Strategic Litigation Council (GSLC) and RSN co-facilitated a virtual event entitled, “Decolonizing Refugee Law.” Guest speaker, E. Tendayi Achiume, provided framing remarks on the legacy of colonialism in international refugee law, and guest panelists–Roshni Shanker and Umer Gilani–reflected on the colonial influence of laws and practices that govern noncitizens in South Asia. The event also highlighted examples of legal advocacy work promoting refugee rights under contemporary applications of colonial-era laws.
